Another read on money and work is the book "Your Money of Your Life". This changed the way I looked at work and money a long time ago and was very helpful in freeing my mind from all the stress that I had previously with it. Here's a good review on it: http://www.thesimpledollar.com/2006/12/16/review-your-money-or-your-life/

Robert - Great tips! I wish I could ditch the car and those expenses....although I find driving a used one fully paid for and limiting trips to the store help save money....well until I live on tropical island that is where I can bike around all day long! One thing I found in simplifying life and getting control of what is around me and stresses or doesn't stress me out, is that my daily happiness and sense of health improved dramatically.

Thanks for a great post. I'm continually amazed at the overlap between health, fitness, and other great topics like this. I'll share a few tips of my own:

Vacation close to home. You'll save money on transportation, support the regional economy, and gain a greater appreciation of your corner of the world.

Check out Freecycle. It's a way for people to give away things they no longer need, and for others to find things that they need (for free). Keeps things out of the dump, too! http://www.freecycle.org/

Ditch the car and use public transit or a bike! (I only wish I could do that....)
